• Genomic Health announces year-end 2011 financial results  Genomic Health reported total revenue for the year ended December 31, 2011 increased to $206.1 million versus $178.1 million in 2010, an increase of 16 percent. Net income was $7.8 million for the year ended December 31, 2011 versus $4.3 million in 2010.

• Cardinal Health Canada and Futuremed announce further extension of offer  Futuremed Healthcare Products Corporation and Cardinal Health Canada Inc. announced that the expiry time of the offer by Cardinal Health Canada to acquire all of the outstanding common shares of Futuremed for CAD $8.15 per Common Share in cash has been further extended until February 16, 2012.

• SurModics reports first quarter fiscal year 2012 results  SurModics reported revenue for the first quarter of 2012 totaled $11.9 million, a 5% decline from the $12.5 million reported in the first quarter of last year. Diluted EPS was $0.12 for the first quarter EPS of $0.16 for the same period last year.

• Cadence Pharmaceuticals announces recall of one lot of OFIRMEV(R)  Cadence announced the voluntary recall of a single lot of OFIRMEV® (acetaminophen) injection. Cadence has notified the FDA of the recall. The recall of OFIRMEV was initiated due to the presence of an unidentified, visible particle in one vial of this lot during routine stability testing.

• Amylin Pharmaceuticals reports fourth quarter and full year 2011 financial results  Amylin reported total revenue for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 was $164.9 million. Non-GAAP income for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 was $17.6 million versus $22.9 million for the same period in 2010. Cash, and equivalents totaled $214.6 million at the end of the quarter.

• Ardea Biosciences announces completion of public offering of common stock  Ardea Biosciences announced the completion of an underwritten public offering of 9,775,000 shares of its common stock, including 1,275,000 shares sold pursuant to the full exercise of an over-allotment option. Gross proceeds to Ardea from this offering were $166.2 million.

• Restricting calories early on does not help acute lung injury patients on ventilators  Acute lung injury patients on ventilators who require a feeding tube have a similar number of ventilator-free hospital days and similar mortality rates if they receive a low-calorie feeding program.
